OSD at the Stutz

It's not just all work and no play at Outside Source Design. Sometimes we get to have a little fun — and a bit of that came our way this past weekend at the Stutz Artists' Open House in downtown Indianapolis. OSD, along with many of the artists at the Stutz, opened their studio space to the public on April 29 & 30, where several employees displayed their drawings, paintings, photographs, block prints—even furniture. Barbara Gerhart, Dan Linginfelter, Danielle Litz, Brad Wolf, Stuart Sipahigil , and Justin Dantzer exhibited pieces for the studio tour and drew quite a crowd. (We think it's safe to say Justin's bench with the seat of nails was the hit of the open house.)

If you're not familiar the Stutz building, it is the original factory where Stutz-Bearcat cars were designed and manufactured from 1912 to 1935. It was purchased and used afterward by Eli Lilly & Company, who owned the facility until 1993, when it was sold to a local developer. In 2004, the building was restored and converted to a business center and nearly 150 artists, architects and other small businesses occupy it today.

The annual Open House has become an event to look forward to, and while individuals from OSD have attended several in the past, this was a first as participants. We made some new friends in the Indianapolis artists' community and hopefully captured a piece of mindshare among the folks in attendance in regards to our creative capabilities. Events like this are a great way to talk to potential clients, in addition to giving some of us a creative outlet for personal projects. Moreover, it was great to talk a little with some like-minded artists and share our thoughts and perspectives on painting, photography, and more.

You can check out more photos from the event on OSD's Flickr group page.
