Funding good design is officially mainstream

Until recently, it's been difficult to convince many businesses that design is a good investment. Features and functionality usually take precedent as tangible items in getting a return on investment. But with the success of Apple and other design-centric companies, many venture capitalists are now beginning to understand the value of good design as an essential part of a good product or service.

"Perhaps the VC embrace of designers has reached some sort of bubble. But the trend of web and mobile startups using good design principles — and placing more emphasis on product development, UI, UX, or whatever you want to call it — is just emerging."
