As we began in a previous blog post, redesigning your website is a huge task and you want to do it for the right reasons. Below is the third of seven steps to ensure success during this process.
Homepage strategy is essential. It’s the prime real estate of any website. As a result, marketers want all their content to have some sort of presence on the homepage. “How else will they find it?” they ask. Simple. Homepage strategy. A solid homepage strategy helps ensure that your first impression is a good one. It allows you to arrange the most important information accordingly so users can find what they need quickly. A key element to a successful strategy is follow web standards. In other words, do stuff that people are used to. Examples of this include placing the navigation bar in a common location. Standards aren’t a bad thing and they don’t limit creativity. Just think if someone rearranged all the letters on your computer keyboard. Sure, it’s different, but now you can’t communicate. The same applies to your website – different for different’s sake doesn’t always yield positive results.
