A new study by Millennial Media and comScore, finds men are leading the charge when it comes to using mobile devices while shopping for consumer packaged goods.

During three-month period, percentage who used their phone for the following consumer-goods-shopping tasks while in a store:

Check product availability:

Men 47%, Women 39%

Compare prices:

Men 51%, Women 38%

Find coupon or deals:

Men 47%, Women 40%

Men 21%, Women 29%

Men 37%, Women 51%

And what the study also found was that more people (both men and women) were using mobile devices to aid the shopping experience. What does that mean? It means there is a real opportunity for mobile apps geared toward instore experience. Hmmm.
