How design can impact your business environment

Years ago, I found myself in a retail store admiring the taste and attention given to the store fixtures and the merchandise presentation. At closer look I noticed a component of the company logo was uniquely used as support for shelves as well as a door handle for the changing areas. It could easily have gone unnoticed. Yet, as it caught my eye, the decision to do this added much to the total environment of the store presentation. Suddenly, I had a sense that this brand really cared about all aspects of customer interaction and was willing to sweat the details through design.
Design is too often overlooked or value engineered out of the equation in business today. The quest to save dollars trumps impact created with strong customer interaction. Or, we don’t even think of aspects of our business environments as touch points needing the nuance of design. As a result, the impact and opportunity of a positive brand interaction is missed.

Every place where your business takes root is an opportunity for stories to be told and unique customer connections to take place. From the plant floor tours to the trades show floor, use design to create nuance and inspire.

Give attention to the details. You’ll get noticed.
