Successful website content is relevant, valuable, attractive and interesting to your audience. To get the best results from your inbound marketing process, determine your content strategy by understanding your buyer and connecting the value of your product or service.
Understand your buyer’s persona
You need to know who your buyers are. Each type of buyer has its own interests, motivations and needs and as a result will be responsive to certain forms of information as opposed to others.
For instance, an art student may be interested in information about art history, shows and galleries. To attract your target consumer, ask yourself:
- What information is my buyer persona looking for?
- What are the best ways to present the information?
Structure your content
Inbound marketing strategy is visitor-centric. You will need to adjust your content to the needs of your consumers. One of the most important aspects of your content is the structure – or the way you organize and present each topic of discussion.
For instance, if your focus is on natural methods of increasing one’s metabolism, you might want to use the following content structure:
- A catchy headline like “Letting your body manage your weight”
- Illustrations that sum up the meaning and intention of your information
- How-to or tutorial videos to present complex information
- Keyword strategy for headlines, meta information and general content
Place your content
The next question becomes how to present the information on your website. It depends on the kind of product or type of campaign, but the main objective is to highlight the content. A blog is a useful tool to accomplish this. A blog is a page or a family of pages that presents your content in a current and trendy way and allows your visitors the opportunity to interact with you and potentially your product. A blog requires planning the frequency of new articles, forms of content and the scope of information you will cover. The goal is to obtain a following of readers who are actively engaged with you.
Tone and manner
Whether your are writing for your website or your blog, you need to establish a consistent and appropriate tone. If your products are related to casual living, you may want to be a little lighthearted. When writing about professional products, you might use a more authoritative yet inviting tone. In any case, make sure you have an editorial team review your content before you publish it. You don’t want to be caught in an embarrassing mistake, unless that is part of your product campaign!
